About New Zealand Diploma In Business (accounting) in Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology

This 1 year (full time) or part-time equivalent programme has been developed in collaboration with industry. 

Your 120 credits will be made up of eight 15 credit courses. Each course is eight weeks long, with a short break in between courses. You can take up to two courses at a time to be considered a full time student.

Study face-to-face on our Nelson or Marlborough campus, or study completely online through the TANZ eCampus online learning platform.

Accounting strand

Turn your love of numbers into a career.

Start with an Introduction to Accounting and Taxation and Organisations in a New Zealand Context to gain a broad understanding of accounting and its role in a New Zealand business. Further increase your knowledge through courses in Applied Accounting, Analysis of Financial Information, Budgets for Planning and Control.

Alongside these Accounting focused courses, gain a deeper understanding of New Zealand business through courses in Business Environments, Business Functions and Understanding Change.

NMIT currently offer the New Zealand Diploma in Business with strands in Leadership and Management or Administration and Technology.

Applied learning

From day one on the New Zealand Diploma in Business (Accounting) at NMIT you will be applying what you learn to real world scenarios. 

Students spend half their time in a traditional classroom environment and the other half working through challenges as part of a business team. Organising events, balancing project budgets, negotiating contracts are just some examples of the skills you will be practicing.
